Artist statement:

Barnes' work looks at elements of the self, dissemination of image and participation. Barnes herself features in much of her work and the exploration of the patriarchal view is a common theme. Barnes' current research is investigating her interest in the uncomfortable and the prurient, along with new pornography laws. Barnes' work tends to manifest itself as film and installation and is often politically charged. Her practice has also recently moved into using sculpture and 3D photogrammetry models. Barnes has also been running a number of workshops at the Tate, as part of their Tate Exchange Programme and for University of the Arts London.
